Congratulations to the PAU Diversity and Community Mental Health program leadership on their successful conference proposals!

American Psychological Association 2010 Convention

August 12-15, 2010
In addition to having our DCMH symposium accepted for APA Division 18, we were also accepted to present our DCMH program at the CPA conference this spring.  It's great to see that other external professional bodies also see our program as innovative.

If anyone is going to be attending the APA conference this year, please join us, we'd appreciate the support!

Thanks to our DCMH partners, and Kudos to the DCMH faculty: Peter Goldblum, Jorge Wong, Bob Reiser, Larry Beutler, Alinne Barrera, and Luli Emmons

Dear Palo Alto University Students, Alumni, and Friends:

Are you planning to be licensed as a Psychologist in the state of California?  If you are, you may know that the California Board of Psychology requires that psychologists complete coursework or training in five particular subjects in addition to all other requirements for licensure. Palo Alto University (PAU) (formerly Pacific Graduate School of Psychology) will be offering four of these courses this summer (2010) in the form of pre-licensing workshops. Please note that the requirements vary by your graduate school start date.  Also, some of the classes that you have taken as part of your graduate program may have already fulfilled these requirements.  You may want to check with the California Board of Psychology to see if you need these workshops at www.psychboard.ca.gov. These workshops do not expire so you may wish to consider taking them now.

Please note that the workshops are not available for Continuing Education Units at PAU.

PAU affiliates (current PAU students, faculty and alumni) will be offered a substantial savings and you will also have the convenience of taking the workshops at our new campus at 1791 Arastradero Road; Palo Alto, CA  94304 (just off Alpine Road.)

U.S. Under Secretary Martha Kanter will give the commencement address at Palo Alto University at 10:15 a.m. PT on Saturday, June 5, in Stanford, Calif.  Her remarks will focus on the importance of public service, the President's goal for America to once again have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020, and the role that Palo Alto graduates can play in creating a "college-going culture" to achieve this goal.

Martha Kanter took part in the program’s vision and planning and her participation in the graduation ceremony will serve to deepen ties with the community college sector and generate interest from students and parents considering the community college option, especially in light of the rising costs of California universities.
